Playbook: OneDrive
OneDrive is a file sharing service from Microsoft that allows users to sync files and later access them from their computer, a web browser or mobile device.
We use OneDrive to share programs, data files, RobotC code and speech/audio files. With OneDrive you can work on one computer then switch to a different computer without having to transfer files between them. All computers are using the same storage space (i.e., "drive").
Files are accessed from the OneDrive in two different ways:
- Windows Explorer
- File Open
Accessing Files on OneDrive through Windows Explorer
The Windows Explorer icon is located in the taskbar.
Accessing Files on OneDrive through the FileOpen Menu in RobotC
Just select the Open File icon in RobotC and look for the OneDrive folder.
Caution
This drive is shared. That means that all team members can access the drive at the same time. So, it is important to show respect for your teammates and not delete their files. Deleted files are not stored in a recycle bin. There is no retrieving them once they have been deleted.
Deleting files could delay the progress of the team.
Exercise
Demonstrate your skill by opening the OneDrive folder. See if you can answer these questions:
- What kinds of files are stored there?
- How many files are stored there?
- Are there sub folders?
- How many sub folders?
- What files are in the sub folders?
